My F250 – Approaching the North Fork of the San Jacinto River
Posted by: admin / Category: Nanos
Me approaching and crossing the North Fork Jacinto River and up the other side of the ravine to an overlook near Idylwild, CA, on road Nf-5s09. To get there, take CA-243 (I came from the Cabazon Outlets) to Idylwild turn right onto Pine Cove Rd. As you pass the “Michelson speed of light historical marker,” the pavement ends and turns into road Nf-5s09. From there, follow the sign posts (and the most “traveled” dirt road) to CA-74 in Hemet (via Nf-5s07: aka Bee Canyon Truck Trail). For the avid off-roader, this trail is listed as “South Coast #19″ in the “Backcountry Adventures / Southern California” guide: www.amazon.com . This trail was rated a “2,” so just about any “higher clearance vehicle” can do it (notice the Saturn that got to this point of the trail – about 1/4 of the way) – check local weather and trail closures before making the trek, though. There are many deep ruts and “frame benders” that can hurt your vehicle (or you) if you do not tread lightly or with finesse. Filmed with my iPod Nano 5g – not bad, huh? I redid the trip just to fix the cropped video in my original post – note to self: iPods are sensitive to portrait/landscape video formats when the recording starts.
